Q & A
-
Do your cans contain BPA in the lining?Nope! We're proud to announce that our cans are BPA-free
-
Are your foods made in the USA?Most of our products are made in either the USA or Canada. We source ingredients (whenever possible) from the USA. But, as do all manufacturers, we are forced to get some ingredients from Canada, Thailand (tuna), New Zealand, and Australia (lamb). Our vitamin packs, since this is the only place in the world that has them, come from China. As far as the flavors we produce in Thailand, we're happy and proud to announce that the company is a leader in sustainability and quality and safe fishing techniques. Rest assured, many of the highest quality pet foods are made in Thailand.
-
How long are opened cans good for in the refrigerator?Opened cans are good (in an airtight container) for up to 5 days. Please keep in mind that if air permeates the food, it can spoil much faster.
-
Where are your ingredients sourced? Our ingredients come from multiple sources around the world, USA and globally sourced. We do not use ingredients from China. With the exception of some Vitamins and Minerals. There is no other option for any brands of pet food. Some of the Vitamins are only produced in China.

Why are some of your Restricted Diet Foods intended for intermittent or supplemental feeding only? Our Restricted Diet formulas are intended for intermittent or supplemental feeding only. The low levels of magnesium and phosphorus in the food do not meet AAFCO requirements for healthy adult maintenance. We recommend using these foods if your pet is having an issue that requires them to be on a low, restricted diet. Once (and if) the issue resolves, you would want to switch back to a regular diet. Of course, if the issue is chronic - it would be okay to maintain the diet. We do, however, recommend speaking with your veterinarian.
-
Which are you Restricted Diet foods comparable to?If it's been suggested that your cat should be on: Hill's® Prescription Diet® k/d® Feline, try our Restricted Diet Phosphorus Canned Cat Food. Hill's® Prescription Diet® i/d® Feline, try out Restricted Diet Magnesium Canned Cat Food. A food for digestive issues, try our Restricted Bland Diets. A food that's low in sodium, try our Restricted Sodium for dogs.
-
Is your meat human grade?Once any meat enters a pet food facility, it can no longer be considered "human grade". Our meat is not, however, "rendered".
-
What is the “Natural Flavor” in some of your foods? The natural flavor can vary, depending on the product you're referring to. Dextrose is the primary source of "Natural Flavor" that's used in all of our canned food formulas. Dextrose acts as an energy source, a texturizer, a sweetener, and a flavor enhancer. It's readily usable by dog and cat systems, and frequently found in many pet food and feed specialties. Other common natural flavors that we use, are liquid smoke (wood is smoked, and aromatics are made into a liquid form, which provides the smoky flavor), pork, or chicken palatant (palatant is what makes the food taste better, and it's liver based so there's no lean muscle tissue).
-
What are your quality control standards? Our co-packers have stringent processes in place to make sure their ingredients are meeting the highest quality standards. They produce all our pet foods in their own facilities, located in the United States, Canada, and Thailand (only our tuna cat food flavors are made in Dolphin-Free Thailand plants). They test each ingredient before using them to ensure nutritional and food safety parameters are met. Plus, they have strict protocols in place to confirm microbiological safety, nutritional compliance, and shelf stability of finished goods.
